Artemis is skin and coat care for dogs, built to human cosmetic standards. Our 3-in-1 Powder-to-Lather Dog Wash is fragrance-free, made in the U.K., and formulated for canine skin first.
We're skin and coat care for dogs co-created by dog parents, beauty experts, and veterinary dermatologists. Even though one of the top reasons for veterinary visits is skin problems, the pet grooming industry is vastly unregulated in comparison to the pet food or human cosmetic industries. We're building the gold standard in pet topicals.
Also, we're backed by the most respected dog lovers in beauty, including celebrity makeup artist Bobbi Brown, Starface co-founder Brian Bordainick, and former Glossier CFO Vanessa Wittman—and built by alumni from Glossier, Condé Nast, Mars Petcare, L'Oréal R&D, and more.
Most dog shampoos arrive as a bottle of liquid that is mostly water. Artemis arrives as a powder.
Add water at bath time and it becomes a rich lather that cleanses, conditions, and soothes in one step. Leaving the water out until you need it means less packaging, less weight in transit, and more formulation in a smaller bottle.
The formula was developed from scratch with cosmetic scientists and a veterinary dermatologist, using colloidal oatmeal, prebiotics, seaweed, and vitamin B5. It is fragrance-free, because the goal was a clean dog, not a dog that smells like a candle.
Yes. The Dog Wash is a 3-in-1: shampoo, conditioner, and soothing wash.
It cleanses the coat, conditions as you wash, and looks after the skin underneath. For an everyday bath, you do not need to reach for a separate conditioner.
A little water does the alchemy.
1. Wet your dog's coat thoroughly.
2. Dispense the powder into your hand.
3. Add water and work it into a creamy lather.
4. Massage through the wet coat, down to the skin.
5. Rinse thoroughly.
Because it cleanses and conditions in one step, there is no separate conditioner stage.
Yes, and more than most people expect.
The powder is water-activated. Once it meets water in your hand it turns into a thick, creamy lather that moves easily through the coat. If anything, you will use less product than you are used to.
Four ingredients do the heavy lifting.
Colloidal oatmeal soothes dry, itchy, irritated skin. Prebiotics help rebalance the skin microbiome. Seaweed nourishes the coat for softness and shine. Vitamin B5 supports moisture retention in the hair follicle.
It is fragrance-free, and because the formula is a powder rather than a water-based liquid, it does not need the preservatives a conventional shampoo does.
It was formulated with sensitive skin as the starting point, not an afterthought.
Dog skin can be as thin as baby skin, and the canine epidermis is thinner than the skin on a human eyelid. That is why the Dog Wash is fragrance-free and built around colloidal oatmeal, prebiotics, seaweed, and vitamin B5.
If your dog has allergies, a diagnosed skin condition, persistent itching, broken skin, or is under veterinary care, speak to your vet before introducing any new grooming product.
Yes. Entirely.
Dogs read the world through scent at a resolution we cannot imagine, and perfume is added for the human in the room rather than the dog in the bath. It is also one of the most common irritants in grooming products.
A clean dog should smell like a clean dog.
The formula is fragrance-free and free from harsh actives, which is the right starting point for delicate skin.
That said, puppy skin is still developing, and bathing needs vary with age, breed, and vaccination stage. For very young puppies, or any puppy with sensitive skin, allergies, or a medical concern, check with your vet first.
Single, double, curly, wiry, silky, and the ones that defy description.
The Dog Wash is designed to work across coat types rather than for one particular breed. Worth knowing: the idea that single-coated dogs have hair while double-coated dogs have fur is a marketing invention. Put them under a microscope and the structure is the same.
If your dog has specialised grooming needs, your groomer or vet can advise on frequency and technique.
There is no universal schedule.
It depends on coat type, skin condition, lifestyle, and your dog's personal commitment to finding mud. Canine skin cell turnover takes up to about three weeks, so if you are trying to judge the results of a new routine, give it at least that long.
If your dog has a skin condition or uses a medicated shampoo, follow the schedule your vet recommends.
Please don't.
Dog skin is thinner than yours and sits at a different pH. Your expensive shampoo was formulated for a surface it was never designed to touch, and the fragrance is usually the first problem.
Even though pet grooming products are not regulated as human cosmetics products, we follow the guidelines set by the E.U. to eliminate over 1,600 potentially harmful ingredients from our formulations. After all, pet grooming products touch your skin, your dog's skin, and your home. Furthermore, our R&D team works with a veterinary dermatologist to make sure our made-from-scratch formulations are safe and effective for dogs from the very beginning. We believe that dogs are family, not property.
Yes, we are vegan and we do not test on animals (only consenting humans!). Our manufacturing facility is certified cruelty-free, too. We work with a leading veterinary dermatologist to make sure our products are safe and effective for dogs.
Yes. The 100% recyclable paper carton of our bottle is made in the U.K. with food-grade dyes and can be repurposed as an enrichment toy for your dog (just check the inside for tips from chief canine officer Artemis!) before you compost or recycle the material. Our custom-designed bottle is 100% recyclable. Because our formulation is a powder concentrate, we are able to provide maximum formulation in smaller, less wasteful packaging, and reduce carbon emissions along the logistics journey.
It is built for anyone who takes canine skin seriously, at home or in a salon.
The 3-in-1 format means one product instead of three, which matters when you are working through a full book of appointments. Fragrance-free also means it will not clash with anything else in the room, or overwhelm a nervous dog.
